港のカフェZENKON

ZENKON (善根。「ぜんごん」とも)

仏語。よい報いを招くもとになる行為。また、さまざまの善を生じるもとになるもの。
善根とは、そもそも仏教用語で、善なる行いの基礎となるものという意味がある。ここ香川県でも、古くから善根の思想があり、八十八ヶ所霊場巡りのお遍路にもお接待をする風習がいまだに残っている。
瀬戸内国際芸術祭は、芸術を巡る海のお遍路であることから、このお遍路に訪れる方々に当地流のおもてなしをしようと、ZENKONと名付けられた。

ZENKON

ZENKON is Buddhist term. It means the act which becomes the origin of a good reward. Moreover, it means the thing which becomes the origin of various goodness.
Originally, ZENKON is Buddhist terminology and it means a basis of good conduct. The thought of ZENKON is handed down from the old days in Kagawa, and hospitality for a pilgrim on the Shikoku Pilgrimage is still left as customs.
Because Setouchi Triennale is pilgrimage of art in Seto Inland Sea, this pavilion called ZENKON where is hospitable to the pilgrims.

RENKON (蓮根)

善根に立ち寄った人々が、たまたま顔を合わせ、声を掛けて友達になる。そこには自然と人々の笑顔の輪が出来上がり、瀬戸内の潮風のささやきと共に心地良い音楽が響く。
ZENKONで生まれる人々の繋がりの輪をRENKONと呼ぶ。

RENKON

At ZENKON, the people who dropped in are met by chance, and speak each other, and be friends.
A circle of nature and people's smile is made there, and pleasant music and a whisper of sea breeze sound from Seto Inland Sea.
The circle of the relation of the people born in ZENKON is called RENKON.
